Funding is now available to homeowners to help make New Zealand's homes warmer, drier and healthier. There is no better time to install energy efficient heating in your home.
The Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority (EECA) is now offering grants covering 90% of the cost to supply and install efficient heating such as a heat pump into your home (capped at $3,000 including GST). The program is also known as Warmer Kiwi Homes and is a four-year Government program.
Heating Eligibility Criteria
If your home is insulated and you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive 90% off the cost of a heat pump.
As insulation is the most important feature for a warm and healthy home, you will need to have ceiling and underfloor insulation installed to EECA standard before you will be eligible for a heating grant. Grants are also available for insulation - more information on this is available here.
To be eligible for a heating grant you must:
- be the homeowner (owner-occupier) AND
- have a Community Services Card or CSC endorsed SuperGold combo card, OR
- own and be living in a home in an area identified as lower-income, AND
- own a home built before 2008, AND
- have no fixed form of heating in your main living area.
